Weekending

I have had a lovely half term. We have relaxed doing lots of pottering, nothing exciting but all necessary. There has been some baking, a trip to the cinema, a lot of gardening (before it got too cold), lots of fires and general caring for the home. A blackboard was made. Oh how I love my blackboard...We all needed to feel peaceful, and together, because term time is so full on for us all. It wasn't exciting but it was exactly what we needed.
Last night we had friends over for dinner - a birthday celebration for someone who always makes me feel exactly me. The mark of a good friend in my opinion. It is a special birthday and we are soon going to have a  day at Bristol Lido. I have long wanted to go having read posts by fabulous Lottie and Emma and so buying a swim and lunch for two seemed a win win situation! We will be going in April, can't wait.

  1. Karen it looks like you've had the most perfect half term - pottering is often under rated - and what's that cake? x Jane

    1. The cakes are chocolate brownies with fresh raspberries. the recipe was in the (first?) issue of The Simple Things magazine. You could probably find it on their web site if you don't have the mag...

  2. Those brownies look delicious! I'll definitely be hunting out that recipe. It sounds like you've had a good half term - I always found they sped by and I seemed to spend the week doing marking and planning. Spending it pottering, baking, cinema-ing and gardening sounds like a very good way to spend it. I'll look out for a post about Bristol Lido - I think it could be the perfect birthday present for a friend.x

  11. Your half term sounds just lovely. Peaceful and together - perfect. I see so many things in your photos that are familiar to me in my home. The orange penguin mug, The Simple Things, the saturday Guardian, crochet on the go, cake...

Love those lanterns and the hyacinths on the mantle.
